Rodrigo Moura /// Mauro Restiffe is not an architecture or landscape photographer. Although he is interested in buildings, cities and settings, it is difficult for us to limit his work to that conventionally distant relationship that is established between the photographer and the place. His images propose a reflection on the production of images in questioning the illusion of distance, neutrality and asepsis that we find, for example, in German industry-inspired photography and its anodyne spaces, a tradition to which Restiffe is related through contrast. Neither is there the desire to create a positive narrative of salvation, like in photojournalism, another lineage with which his work has a dialogue and from which he appropriates some principles in order to deconstruct them. |
