Marta Mestre /// Barthélémy Toguo. Anti-natural The “Carpe Diem – Arte e Pesquisa” project is holding a series of events in Lisbon within the field of contemporary culture, debating the idea of the journey and its domains extending into exile, into the solitude of urban spaces and of barbarity. This is an opportunity to make the first ever presentation of the work of the Franco-Cameroon artist Barthélémy Toguo, one of the most important artists of his generation. “Road for Exile” is a large installation that reflects Toguo’s work carried out over two years on the subject of migration, relating it to the human drama of the great narratives. It is an occasion to revisit his previous projects through the constant recreating of a strong “theatrical or staged sense”, in a work that organizes the world as if it could be reborn. |
