Javier Hontoria /// Ecos dum desenho. Ignacio Uriarte

The manner in which drawing has enjoyed autonomous status as an artistic form has opened up the scope of narrative and conceptual possibilities to a multitude of artists. Nowadays everybody draws and there are so many artists who in some manner include works on paper in their presentations. To good effect, of course, and to ill. On relatively recent occasions there has been the emerging of very interesting alternatives in the field of drawing, but there have also people extremely poor quality drawing artists, committed to opportunistically and insincerely getting on the bandwagon. There are many mediocre artists with a certain skill at making their lack of ability go unnoticed, but an apparently primary exercise such as drawing usually has striking results and puts everyone in their places. There are quite a few cases of artists who have tried to redirect their work down the path of drawing and have done no more than accentuate their doubts more clearly.
