Daniel Senise /// Dispersed amongst Art "I'm inside a house with an Alan Davies painting which is very interesting (he has a studio here in the island): from the distance I see a lot of subject matter, a lot of paint, but when one comes close only one small layer of paint is visible (or maybe two). It clearly isn't a work which involved a certain process, where a lot, or everything, was changed many times. It is a narrow surface. My mind is tuned with the 80" – I wanted to see subject matter. After all, it seems like the simplicity of this work evokes a certain expectation which became a rule in the last years: a painting of this nature must represent the scars of its process or it will be marked with the remainings of its result. |
