Marco Giannotti /// Sculpting
the Time. Eder Santos.
In Janaúba (1993) a snake twists
by the streets heading to the horizon. The image is repeated several
times, we have the sensation that its effort is useless. Like in Sysiphus,
the stone returns to the top of the mountain and the snake must continue
moving through the street. Time seems to be suspended due to the granulated
image, blown-up by the excess of light.
A naked woman comes down the stairs in a continuous mode. The stairs,
like a labirynth – seems to have no end. Images interpolated from
the landing area of a plane place the observer as a pilot conducting
his machine. In this case the observer voyeur of Nude Descending a
Staircase by Marcel Duchamp in invited to participated in the scene.
A scene which has no beginning or end, the nude returns to the top
of the stairs and we are taken once again to mark our senses with buoys.
In Distorções contidas (2005), an etheral atmospheres
emerges amongst fragments of broken glass where the images are projected.
Contrary to the airports where time is minutely kept, here time is
ever changing. Curious is the fact that Duchamp's work was rejected
by the cubist group precisely for longing for the forth dimension,
time. |
