DARDO MAGAZINE /// Present continuous Not in a hurry. Thus was born Dardo Magazine, almost two years ago. A magazine determined not to base its contents on what is immediately current, but on artists’ careers, independently of their momentary protagonism. Dardo Magazine belongs to an independent publishing house, Dardo ds, which also has its own design company. This birth of this publishing house, which is specialised and mainly focussed on Spain, Portugal and Brazil, happily coincides with a moment when other small publishers are starting to produce their own magazines, which speaks of a promising period for independent publishing, with fewer political and commercial commitments than the large groups and companies with international capital. Alternative production overcomes its economic limits with an absence of limits in its intellectual production. Thus we have seen the emerging of non profit publishers (The New Press), or in the form of a cooperative (Ordfront), always aiming at maintaining political and cultural autonomy. |
