“NOTHING THAT IS SO IS SO” in the work of Javier Peñafiel

In “The World as Will and Representation”, Arthur Schopenhauer sentences that man as a temporal phenomenon is an applicable certainty and that knowledge openly exposes death as the end of this temporal existence. A Man’s end is as real as its beginning. However, the philosopher clears that even death does not suppress that which was imposed by birth: existence. Said in this manner, to think that an artist is conscious of its time, of the ephemeral duration that life has, eternity is aimed through the permanence of his art. At the same time that something lasts in a work of art, the work of art lasts in itself. The biggest human contradiction is to know itself as ephemeral, but to desire to last in an object, or in a being, by him created. The artist wishes to apprehend time, the body and eternity, for he does not produce for a present time which dissipates, but for the future, for history. If we want to lend a role to art, as says Hegel, that will be one of revealing the truth, or representing in a concrete and figurative manner that which agitates the human soul.
