Paulo Reis /// Gravity is the mystery of the body. The work of Ernesto Neto The innate sense of the meaning of nature was a part of the training of the Greek man, and this remains undoubtedly at the origin of his making. In order to understand nature the Greeks invented a precise term to designate it: physis, a word coming from the verb phyô (to be born). This term would be at the origin of the branch of science that studies the phenomena of bodily beings and their relationships with gravitation, pressure, heat, light, sound, magnetism, electricity and radioactivity. This term would bring with it numerous problems related to biological and mathematical facts, as well as with metaphysical aspects, such as those that issues of materiality, corporeality and non-corporeality provoke and challenge the astuteness of human thought. |
